Sonja has nearly 15 years in the Community sector.
She has had a variety of work experiences, working in Elderly Care, as a Prison Officer, Supervisor of Rehabilitation Centre, Disability Support, Manager of Community Centre (unemployed projects) and now currently the Coordinator of Dayspring Training Academy. She has a BA in Intercultural Ministries, Dip. Christian Min, Cert 1V Welfare & Disability, Cert 1V TAA Training & Assessment and is now upgrading her skills in Counselling.
Sonja's passion is to reach out and assist the hurting and disadvantaged, especially those from third world countries.
While back-packing in Asia in 1988, Sonja became a Christian and then returned to Asia on short term mission trips to Hong Kong, China, Tibet, and numerous trips to Thailand Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, Mozambique (Africa), New Zealand and Australia.
While visiting Thailand in 1988-89, Sonja was deeply touched by the Lives and testimonies of the refugee Karen people of Myanmar who live in refugee camps on Thailand’s border.
Over the past 20 years Sonja has raised many thousands of dollars to help these needy people. Stewart & Sonja both share the same mission and vision which involves helping the underprivileged and disadvantaged, especially in South East Asia. Their ministry locally and internationally is to train, equip and release labourers into the harvest fields of this world.
Sonja & Stewart plan to travel to South East Asia in 2010 with their main focus being Burma. (Myanmar)
